Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (12 January 2026): Nissan has announced a series of senior management changes in its Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania (AMIEO) region, designed to strengthen delivery of the Re:Nissan transformation plan and enhance operational efficiency, speed and customer focus.

Effective 1 January 2026, Thierry Sabbagh’s responsibilities have been expanded to include Nissan India, as he becomes Divisional Vice President and President, Middle East, KSA, CIS and India – Nissan and INFINITI. The expanded scope reflects Nissan’s focus on maintaining leadership continuity across established markets while strengthening governance, execution and growth momentum in India as a strategic priority within the AMIEO region.

India is central to Nissan’s ambitions in 2026, as the brand accelerates its resurgence in the market. Building on this momentum, Nissan India will introduce three new models over the next 14 to 16 months, including Gravite, Tekton and a 7-seater C-SUV, while continuing to expand its customer reach through a growing dealer network with 250 touchpoints across the country.

At the regional level, Nissan will integrate Product Planning and Marketing into a single product-focused organization to streamline processes from concept to launch. Clíodhna Lyons will lead this new organization as Regional Vice President Product, Services and Marketing Strategy, overseeing advanced planning, product competitiveness and lifecycle management.

Additionally, Guillaume Barbet, Regional Vice President Sales Planning and Operations, will expand his remit to cover all planning activities, pricing, competitiveness and operational efficiency.

These changes reinforce Nissan’s commitment to delivering innovative products and services with greater speed and precision, ensuring alignment with evolving customer needs across the diverse markets within AMIEO.

Nissan also announced the departure of Leon Dorssers, Senior Vice President, Chief of Commercial Operations, Nissan AMIEO. Having joined Nissan as a trainee in Nissan Europe Amsterdam in 1992, Dorssers went on to hold a number of leadership roles in France, Spain, Belgium, America and Japan, before becoming AMIEO Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales in 2021.

Following a series of exciting product launches across AMIEO in 2025, Nissan has another strong year ahead in the region with more new products and technologies on the way. The planned 10 MW expansion is expected to significantly increase operating income and enhance the overall value of the investment.

Shurooq and Citix MENA announce strategic partnership to launch smartboard digital network in Sharjah

Sharjah, UAE, January 2026: The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has entered into a strategic partnership with Citix MENA to introduce a new smartboard digital network across several of the emirate’s flagship destinations, in a move set to modernize visitor engagement and advance Sharjah’s smart city agenda.

Under the agreement, Citix will deploy and operate a new generation of interactive digital street-furniture screens designed to offer real-time information, improved wayfinding, live updates, and continuous visibility of cultural, leisure, and tourism activities. The network aims to enhance how residents and tourists access information across public spaces managed by Shurooq.

The rollout, which marks one of the most significant digital infrastructure upgrades within Shurooq destinations to date, forms part of a broader push to integrate intelligent media systems into urban environments. The smartboards are built to deliver dynamic content supported by transparent analytics, giving brands, stakeholders, and city authorities new tools for communication and public engagement.



Citix, a global technology firm known for developing intelligent urban infrastructure, will oversee the end-to-end implementation-from installation and technical operations to smart-city widgets such as traffic updates, weather data, emergency alerts, and other adaptive modules. The company is recognized for creating advanced digital ecosystems combining hardware, software, and data analytics across several international markets.

The first phase of the Sharjah project will cover prominent destinations including Al Qasba, Al Heera Beach, The Flag Island, Khorfakkan, and additional high-footfall areas. Further expansion across other districts is planned as part of a long-term roadmap to strengthen the emirate’s digital transformation efforts.

Held under the slogan "Your Presence Matters", the festival will run for seven days until January 15, 2026, welcoming visitors daily from 4:00 PM to 12:00 midnight. This integrated cultural and entertainment experience is designed as a vibrant space that celebrates writers and readers of all ages in a contemporary style that blends the charm of history with the spirit of modern culture.


The CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, affirmed that the commission is working to enhance the quality of life as one of the main pillars of Saudi Vision 2030. This is achieved by making culture a way of life, expanding the horizons of knowledge, and empowering individuals to contribute intellectually and culturally to the development of their society. This contributes to enriching the cultural scene and meeting the public’s aspirations for literature, culture, and arts, reflecting the dynamism of Saudi Arabia’s cultural landscape.


The festival comprises four main sites: Aldarb area, Almatal, Alfanaa, and Alsarh. It hosts over 270 events, including 176 cultural activities, 84 theatrical performances, 7 musical and poetry evenings, in addition to the representation of 45 literary and artistic works.


 


The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission has allocated 20 artistic platforms, enabling artisans to showcase their products in a professional environment. It is noteworthy that Taif is the first city in the Kingdom classified within UNESCO's Network of Creative Cities in the field of literature. This classification comes as part of the efforts of the commission to renew Taif's literary wealth, develop the publishing industry, revitalize professional translation, and host diverse and rich literary events in the city throughout the year. These efforts aim to enhance literary festivals in the Kingdom, create a nurturing environment for Saudi literature and writers to promote their literary output, discover literary talents, refine their experiences, improve their production, and market it locally, regionally, and globally.

Led by Cheolgi Kim, Head of the DA Business, the session laid out how Samsung’s Bespoke AI appliances are seamlessly connected through SmartThings to evolve them from mere devices into “Home Companions.”

These devices are equipped with Bixby voice recognition technology, screens, and cameras that allow them to see, hear and understand to proactively respond to users. This makes them capable of intelligently adapting to users’ daily lives. At the same time, intelligent adaptation extends beyond home appliances to TVs and mobile devices to build a broader AI ecosystem in which devices can fulfil the role of a true Home Companion.

“Samsung’s ultimate goal is to enable a better living through Bespoke AI,” said Cheolgi Kim. “Through our extensive ecosystem that connects devices across DX products – including mobile phones and TV – and our appliaces’ unique form factors, we are providing differentiated experiences to our consumers and creating more value through those experiences.”

Regional Strategies Powering Global Growth

Also during the session, JS Moon, Head of R&D at the DA Business, highlighted how Samsung is tailoring its 2026 appliance portfolio to meet regional market needs. In North America, innovative form factors like the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo continued to drive strong growth. In addition to the AI lineup, new kitchen packages featuring unified stainless-steel designs are expected to satisfy local preferences in 2026.

In Europe, energy efficiency remains a top priority. Samsung has introduced highly efficient appliances, including the Bespoke AI washer, which is up to 65% more energy efficient than energy efficiency class A minimum requirements in Europe,[1] advanced HVAC solutions and built-in kitchen products designed to meet stringent sustainability expectations.

Latin America continues to see strong momentum led by laundry and air conditioning solutions, while rising interest in smart home ecosystems and localized AI features like regional language support and expanded AI Energy Mode represent a major growth opportunity in Asia.

“At Samsung, we aim to deliver meaningful AI experiences that are deeply aligned with local lifestyles and needs,” said EVP Moon. “As such, we will keep enhancing these regional features and expand core AI features such as AI Energy Mode to a wider range of price points and product types beyond premium lineups.”

The concluding session of Samsung’s CES 2026 Tech Forum series highlighted the human side of technology with leading designers

LAS VEGAS — Jan. 8, 2026 Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd. today held the final session in its CES 2026 Tech Forum series, “The Human Side of Tech: Designing a Future Worth Living,” at Samsung’s The First Look space at The Wynn Las Vegas. The panel, moderated by Debbie Millman, host of “Design Matters,” featured Samsung Chief Design Officer Mauro Porcini and industry-leading designers Karim Rashid and Fabio Novembre.

With minimalism having defined the visual language of the tech industry for the past two decades, this panel of designers convened by Samsung asked: What comes next? Together, the panelists explored how warmer, more expressive and emotionally resonant technology can shape meaningful experiences in today’s AI era, while also charting a path forward for the industry.

Design as an Act of Love

The session covered a shared view on the purpose of design as fundamentally people-first. “In recent years, design in tech has been somewhat uniform,” said moderator Debbie Millman. “Compared to other industries, the uniformity in the world of tech is an anomaly. So what if we were to extend technology beyond specifications and functionality?”

Samsung is currently addressing this question by introducing meaning beyond products by focusing on how technology fits into people’s lives, experiences and needs. The panelists discussed the growing importance of this mindset in the current landscape in which traditional barriers to entry such as access to tools, scale and technical capability continuing to diminish.

The Human Side of Tech

The discussion highlighted technology’s role in making intention, care and humanity visible in everyday life. Panelists noted that technology should help people recognize the thoughtfulness embedded in the products they invite into their homes and routines.

In this context, Samsung Chief Design Officer Mauro Porcini shared Samsung’s design purpose: to enrich the quality of people’s lives through meaningful technology designed for humanity. He outlined the company’s commitment to help people live longer, live better, live louder and live on through advanced technologies that support wellbeing, creativity and self-expression.  

Panelist Karim Rashid added to this sentiment, saying, “When we think about physical things in our world, we think not only about diversity of choice but also the fact that we can develop strong connections to objects,” he said. “Through design, you can end up with a very powerful, emotional connection with inanimate objects, or even products.”

Designing for Human Values

The panel went on to explore how AI can unlock new possibilities for expression when shaped by human values. Panelists discussed a shared view that AI reaches its true potential when guided by Emotional Intelligence and Human Imagination, not as a replacement for human creativity but as a force that expands it.

CDO Porcini articulated this with “AI × (EI + HI),” his approach to balancing Emotional Intelligence and Human Imagination to bring meaning to innovation. While describing this philosophy, CDO Porcini said, “When we design and develop, AI is amplified by Emotional Intelligence and Human Imagination. “Then, when people use products, AI amplifies Emotional Intelligence and Human Imagination.” He added, “Do not fear technology. We are here to humanize it, guide it, and shape it.”

Through these insights, the session reinforced the belief that technology should be humanized, guided and shaped to serve people’s lives in increasingly new and meaningful ways.

Expressive Design Drives More Meaningful Experiences

The discussion reinforced the importance of expressive design in bringing human-centered purpose to life, creating experiences that reflect emotion, support self-expression, invite connection and stimulate imagination.

“Happiness is the aim of design,” said Fabio Novembre. “Our pursuit of happiness is through design, making the impossible possible. I strongly believe in design, and that it must move back to the center of the stage.”

Panelists noted that this reflects a shift from merely designing objects to designing experiences where emotion, meaning and identity are increasingly integral to how people relate to technology. This approach inspires a new kind of expression, resulting in designs that range from subtle and minimal to bold and imaginative — all meant to shape a future that isn’t just worth living, but worth loving.

Other features of the health platform include analyzing health metrics through connected devices to help identify potential signs of chronic conditions, as well as exercise and sleep coaching and recipe recommendations based on ingredients in connected refrigerators.

“What impressed me was how everything is connected,” said Maxence Fleury, a digital content creator from Los Angeles. “The exhibition clearly showed how the ecosystem is expanding and the impact it is having.”

(NMC) announced new initiatives aimed at strengthening Nissan’s overall brand power through the expansion of motorsports activities and the NISMO car lineup. As part of the Re:Nissan product strategy, “heartbeat models” play a key role in defining Nissan’s brand DNA by sparking emotion and driving passion, with NISMO positioned at the center of this ambition.

 

NMC will support this strategy by further showcasing the pursuit of performance through motorsports and delivering excitement through NISMO products, supported by new business initiatives spanning racing, customization, and heritage programs.

Under the motto “road to track, track to road,” Nissan continues to leverage the technology and driving spirit cultivated through top-tier racing series such as Super GT and Formula E. Insights and innovations developed on the track are transferred into the NISMO car lineup, reinforcing the brand’s performance credibility and emotional appeal. Nissan will continue to challenge itself in series including Super Taikyu, while expanding into new types of racing.

 

From fiscal year 2026, Nissan plans to introduce prototype vehicles for racing activities to accelerate technological advancements in both hardware and software, supporting future motorsports participation and NISMO lineup expansion.

 

NISMO car lineup: delivering emotion and excitement

Building on the success of its current portfolio, Nissan aims to double the number of NISMO models available globally from five to ten. Market availability of NISMO vehicles will also be expanded, with annual shipment volumes targeted to increase from approximately 100,000 units to 150,000 units by 2028. Overseas sales are expected to grow from approximately 40% to 60% during this period.

 

In pursuit of greater customer value, Nissan will actively consider collaborations with external partners to further expand its NISMO business and deliver products that enhance driving excitement and performance.

As part of this evolution, Nissan and NMC will present the latest expression of NISMO’s performance and innovation at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, taking place from January 9 to January 11 at Makuhari Messe. Marking the first public expression of NISMO’s future direction, the concept will serve as a tangible representation of the brand’s performance philosophy and design ambition.

 

Alongside the debut of the NISMO concept model, the booth will feature vehicles that highlight Nissan’s motorsports DNA and driving passion, including the Fairlady Z NISMO MT, offering a manual transmission option for customers seeking a heightened driving experience.

 

Motorsports heritage will also be celebrated with the display of the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R from the 2016 Super GT season, honoring the career of Tsugio Matsuda following his retirement from Super GT at the end of the 2025 season.

 

Heritage and restoration programs

Alongside its future-facing initiatives, NMC will continue to grow its heritage and restoration businesses. The global auto restoration market, currently valued at approximately 500 billion yen and projected to exceed 1.2 trillion yen by 2032, represents a key growth opportunity.

 

NMC will initially focus on restoration, restomod, and parts sales centered around the Skyline GT-R R32, R33 and R34, with additional vehicles and regional offerings planned for the future. The newly optimized vapor chamber and airflow system enhance heat dissipation while maintaining quiet operation across Galaxy Book6 Ultra and Pro models, marking the first time the Pro series uses a vapor chamber.

 

·        The vapor chamber is newly introduced in Galaxy Book6 Pro and redesigned with a larger surface area in Galaxy Book6 Ultra, distributing heat more evenly to keep the devices cool and ensuring responsiveness under heavy workloads.

·        Galaxy Book6 Ultra and Pro have increased the size of their fins, thin metal components attached to the vapor chamber that increase surface area and allow air from the fan to carry heat away. By expanding the surface area, heat is transferred and released more effectively, improving cooling efficiency by 35%[4] compared to the previous generation.

·        In Galaxy Book6 Ultra, a newly added dual path outlet fan and heatsink absorb heat from the processor and other internal components and dissipate it, preventing overheating and performance slowdowns.
